PG Diploma in Data Science

 Admission closed for the year 2017 as both batches are full. Next batch would directly be 2018, details of which would be updated early next year.


After the successful completion of the Second Batch, we take immense pleasure in announcing the next batch of PGDDS.

This course is targeted towards creating Data Scientists who would be well equipped with strong analytical and programming skills. The course will be conducted by St. Xavier’s College-Autonomous in collaboration with industry partner Sankhya Analytical Research Pvt. Ltd.


The curriculum is focused on empowering students with knowledge of basic and advanced statistical methods to solve business and research problems. The curriculum is designed based on 12+ years of experience in solving business and research problems and includes all facets of data science with appropriate weights.

The curriculum is sub-divided into 8 modules:

Project Work: 40 hrs. and Internship for one month.

Course Structure

The course will be conducted by highly experienced industry professionals and eminent academicians. The teaching methods will include lectures, practical sessions, discussions, group assignments and case studies. The emphasize will be given on explaining the concepts and demonstrating their application using tools like R, R Studio and Rattle. Real life problems across industry verticals like BFSI, FMCG, Retail and Telecomm will be discussed during the course.

Project Work and Internship

During the course, students are expected to complete 40 hours of project work. All students will be recommended for internship positions to the industry for a period of 1 month.

Evaluation of Students

Evaluations and grading will be made based on objective and subjective written tests at the end of every two modules and the final presentation made by every student, judged for its content & delivery.

Venue and Course Timing

The course will be conducted at the St. Xavier's College campus and will comprise of coursework of 4 hours on Saturdays (2pm – 6pm) and 4 hours on Sundays (10 am – 2pm) for 25 weeks.

Course Eligibility

Students with a minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Computer Science, IT, BMM, BMS  and related disciplines. Students pursuing their Master’s degree and Working professionals can also apply.
A maximum of 30 students will be selected for the batch, based on their academic background and a screening interview.

Students of our previous batches have been placed in reputed companied like Fractal Analytics, Nielsen Analytics, Direxions Market Research, Pentations Analytics, Medicounts Life Sciences, etc.

Course Fees

• Total: Rs. 95,000/- (This includes tuition fees, course materials & hand-outs)

Selected candidates would be informed by email and would have to pay the above fee only by demand Draft in the name of "The Bombay St. Xavier’s College Society", at the time of admission, to the Treasurer, St. Xavier's College, Mumbai 400 001.

The selected candidate should take the admission and pay the fees within 7 days of intimation. 
Date of commencement of the course is 17th June 2017.
The last date of admission is 22nd April 2017.
