ECO - FRIENDLY CLAY GANESHA WORKSHOP
The Dept. of Ancient Indian Culture and Archaeology in collaboration with the Museum Society of Bombay organized an Eco-Friendly Clay Ganesha Workshop on the 15th of September 2015 at the Coomaraswamy Hall of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya between 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm.This workshop was attended by total 60 students from the Little Flower of Jesus School, Colaba and Colaba Public High School.The workshop consisted of a presentation by Dr. Anita- Rane – Kothare about the “Story of Ganesh and the Celebration of the Festival", this was followed by a hands on activity where the children were provided with natural clay to create their own idol of Ganesha. After the children finished making their Ganeshas, each of them was decorated with flowers and a haldi kumkum tilak, this was follwed by an Aarti and distribution of modaks. The children, led by Dr. Anita- Rane – Kothare went in procession to Gateway of India for the immersion and snacks. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Anita Rane-Kothare and the group of student volunteers from the department, supported by Times.
